Trip Ministries

Wesley leads a variety of trips throughout the year. We carry out Fall and Spring retreats, mission trips (domestically and internationally), biking trips, and a Colorado retreat over winter break. In all of them, we seek to grow spiritually and build stronger bonds with each other, while also serving all the people we come into contact with.

Fall and Spring Retreats:  These retreats focus on setting time apart in the middle of busy schedules to spend time in fellowship with other Wesley students. These retreats allow students to take time to recharge, worship, and grow. Often, these retreats take place at one of our supporting congregations or a student’s home church. During these trips, we also take time to give back to local congregations or the communities they serve.

Outdoor Trips: At Wesley Foundation, we love spending time in God’s creation and growing together through outdoor adventures. Our Outdoor Trips take us hiking local trails, exploring caves, visiting Turkey Run and Warren Dunes State Park, paddling on our annual Labor Day Canoe Trip, and gathering under the stars at our fall campout. These experiences give students a chance to unplug, build friendships, and enjoy the beauty and excitement of the outdoors together.

Colorado: During Winter Break, we organize an 11-day trip to Colorado. We stay at Pastor Glen’s family’s cabin where we get to enjoy all the beauty that God has provided us in the mountains and nature. We do near daily hikes and outdoor activities, and we also get to play a great amount of board games and card games. It is a time to celebrate the joy of Christmas and Wintertime (and the school break), as we get to spend time with one another sharing meals and devotions.

Africa Trip: Every few years (most recently in 2025) we have a mission trip to Africa. Countries with which we have long-standing connections include Zimbabwe, Zambia, and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). These trips include college students from the African countries we visit and can be described as friendship-building and deep-listening journeys. We build friendship and partnership with our brothers and sisters in Africa through deep listening to their stories as we seek authentic relationships and mutual understanding of one another’s context. Worshiping, praying, working on projects, traveling, and sharing adventures together helps us to grow closer to God and each other as an international body of Christ.

National Mission Trips: We often organize shorter mission trips over spring break to different places across the United States. In 2025, we traveled to New Orleans, where we partnered with local churches to clean up their buildings and neighborhoods, help prepare meals, and beautify a community garden. During these mission trips, students build friendships and partnerships with members of the broader body of Christ who are working to strengthen and uplift their communities.
