When Everett Gwyn first arrived at Purdue in 2012, he couldn’t have imagined how deeply the Wesley Foundation would shape his understanding of service and community. A regular at Wesley services, Everett quickly found himself drawn to events like Midnight Pancakes and Winternization—simple moments that taught him the power of showing up and lending a hand.

“I’ve learned that service can come in the small and simple acts as well as the large ones,” Everett reflects. “Lending an extra hand is always reassuring when it comes to serving those in need.”

After graduating in 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Computer Engineering Technology, Everett carried the spirit of service he found at Wesley into his life beyond Purdue. When he moved to Valparaiso, advice from Pastor Glen encouraged him to seek out a new church family. There, Everett became a steady presence—helping with fundraisers, breakfasts, garage sales, and volunteering at the local homeless shelter.

Through those experiences, he saw how communities come together to support one another and how faith is often lived out in quiet, consistent care. “In the world of being a disciple that performs acts of service,” Everett says, “there is always a need for people—you just have to take the first steps to seek out and find it.”

For Everett, Wesley wasn’t just a place on campus; it was the foundation for a lifelong journey of faith through service.
