Lions (rabbits) and tigers (housecats) and bears (dogs) oh my! For many years, Wesley has been a place where students can bring their animals to not only get them out of their apartments, but also spread some joy to the students of Purdue.

Coming to college with my dog, Chewie, was difficult at first because I would be gone long days at class and then have to leave him behind again if I wanted to go to other club meetings in the evenings to meet new people and make friends. Wesley not only embraced Chewie, but he has spent the last four years being our official-unofficial mascot! I am able to bring him to most activities, so he has been able to join the band for worship, play games at Friday fellowship, and sometimes even take communion on Tuesday night devotion and bible study.

It has been a blessing to have a space where I don’t have to leave my best friend behind, and he can have a space to socialize with other people and pets. Many other Wesley students also bring their animals in for a visit, including dogs, cats, and rabbits!

It brings a lot of joy to see the pets of Wesley. We are building a community around not only our people, but also our companions. It has been a wonderful part of my time at Purdue.
