A New Chapter for Wesley Foundation

Wesley Foundation was thrilled to welcome friends, supporters, alumni, family, and members of the Lafayette community this past Saturday, August 29, for the ribbon-cutting ceremony and consecration of the new Wesley Foundation Student Center: Home of Wesley Campus Ministry.

It’s hard to believe that just a few days ago we officially cut the ribbon and opened the doors to our new building, welcoming hundreds of our supporters.

This project would not have been possible without the time, expertise, dedication, and generosity of so many partners, supporters, and longtime friends. We are deeply grateful to everyone who contributed their time, energy, and resources to bring this vision to life.

It was beautiful to look out across the lawn and see it full with students, alumni, partners, Purdue supporters, members of the Lafayette community, family, and friends all gathered together to celebrate Wesley.

With this incredible outpouring of support, we have no doubt that Wesley will continue to flourish and

welcome students for the next 100 years.

Consecration & Worship

What a blessing it was to have Bishop Tracy Smith Malone lead us in worship and consecrate our building. Her sermon, “More Than A Place: Where Grace Becomes A Story,” captured exactly what Wesley has meant to so many of us.

From offering a simple hello, to leaving a seat open for someone, to inviting a new friend to a recreation event, we show the world what Christian love looks like at Wesley.

Bishop Malone reminded us that “what looks ordinary to us, may become holy ground to someone else”.

For many students, their introduction to Wesley isn’t necessarily profound. As the Bishop mentioned, the skies don’t rumble with thunder when they find their way to us. Instead, they simply attend an event, meet a fellow Wesley student, receive a warm welcome, and begin to learn what it means to be accepted unconditionally and to belong.

That is the hope for this new building: that it will become holy ground for countless students in the decades to come. That it will be a place where friendships begin, faith grows, lives are changed, and students discover that they have a place at Wesley.

And, in true Wesley fashion, no gathering is complete without a home-cooked meal. Prepared by our students and volunteers, dinner was shared with more than 100 guests.
